So why the inkblot? Every issue of Positive/Negative magazine had to conform to an overarching theme of positive and negative. For our issue, we explored the dichotomy of dark, rough, gritty, and textured paint strokes versus a completely clean, star white slate. The cover is an eye-catching blot, and elements of the design inside the magazine and its accompanying style guide continue the motif.

My role as a Design Director was to develop a consistent style guide for each magazine spread to adhere to. Designers could choose one of two styles, for positive- or negative-leaning articles. Sam, the other Design Director, and I took intensive care to ensure that the guide was followed to a tee.

I designed three spreads which appear within the magazine.
