Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based out of Sydney, Australia with millions of dedicated fans across the world and a staggering 9 million YouTube subscribers. In late 2023, I was approached for a logo refresh that would reflect on the the progress their brand has made as they developed a wider array of content.

Process
We explored many different type treatments, as well as polishing the original type. Most of the treatments are either custom-designed fonts or heavily modified versions of existing fonts. The “winning” treatment is an extremely heavily modified version of Kimberly Black, with chamfered corners, widened stems, and custom-designed small caps.
Throughout development, we tried many different combination of skull shapes and fonts, but ultimately settled on a design that felt ownable and included a nod to their characters.
I designed various levels of glitchiness from none to “too much,” which included plenty of greebles. We settled on a Goldilocks amount, with a glitch effect on the shield but no chromatic aberration.
